Department’s work and activities
To improve the social and educational standard of living of the backward classes and for their upliftment, the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the Government is implementing various schemes and initiatives through the Social Welfare Department of the Zilla Parishad. Also, as per the policy orders of the Government, the Zilla Parishads are required to spend at least 20% of their income on the welfare schemes of the backward classes. The implementation and control of these schemes is done by the Hon’ble Social Welfare Committee through the Zilla Parishad. The following schemes are being implemented from this fund as per the guidelines, government decisions and circulars issued by the Government from time to time.
Social Welfare Department under Zilla Parishad the Head of the Department is a Class 1 officer of the State Government. His designation is Social Welfare Officer. The same officer is the Secretary of the Social Welfare Committee of the District Council. This department always strives for the development of the backward classes. Scholarships given by the government to backward class students in rural areas, provision of bicycles and sewing machines from the district fund, construction of roads, street lights, community buildings, drains, etc. in the settlements of backward class people of Schedule caste and Nav-Buddhist Areas are developed under the scheme.
