About Us
Since 1960, Chandrapur district was considered as an independent district. Till the year 1874 there were three tehsils namely Mul, Warora and Bramhpuri in the district. Then in the year 1874 Godavari district of Madras state was abolished and four tehsils were added to Chandrapur district. And the headquarters of the tehsil was kept at Sironcha. In the year 1905, a new tehsil was created with headquarters at Gadchiroli. In the year 1907, a part of the zamindari of Chandrapur district was transferred to the newly created Durg district. In the same year, the three divisions of Lower Sironcha Tehsil namely Kerala, Avalak and Pugur covered an area of about 1560 sq.km. The share was transferred to the annexed Madras State. As a result of state reorganization in the year 1956, this district, formerly in Madhya Pradesh, was merged with Bombay State.
