    Women and Child Welfare Department

    Various schemes and services are implemented for the welfare of women and children in the district through the Women and Child Development Department, Chandrapur. Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme is one of the major schemes implemented by the department.

    As per the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Act, 1961, the following functions are carried out through the Women and Child Development Department, Chandrapur:

    • Implementation of various schemes and programs under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme as per the guidelines of Women and Child Development Commissionerate, Pune and Navi Mumbai.
    • Implementing and controlling schemes and programs through Women and Child Welfare Committee, Zilla Parishad.
    • To control the functioning of Anganwadi centers at the Panchayat Samiti level under the Zilla Parishad.
    • Laying the foundation for the proper mental, physical and social development of children.
    • To improve the nutritional and health status of children under the age of six.
    • To reduce the number of deaths, mental disorders, malnutrition and school dropouts.
    • To maintain effective coordination of policy formulation and programs among various departments for undertaking child development programs.
    • To empower and make mothers and families aware to improve the general health and nutritional status of children through proper nutrition and health education.

    Schemes implemented by the department

    • Starting Vyam Child Development Center (VCDC).
    • Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Amrit Aahar Yojana Phase 1 and 2 implementation.
    • Through the “Tarse Suposhit Maharashtra” initiative, extremely useful information is made available to the beneficiaries through IVR hotline (Helpline number-8080809063) and WhatsApp chatbot (WhatsApp chatbot – 8080809063).
    • Implementing awareness campaigns under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
    • Women and Child Development Department Planning to register beneficiaries under the Child Development Service Scheme.
    • Providing regular benefits to beneficiaries by updating beneficiary information in the Poshan Tracker Software system.
    • National Nutrition Month September 2023 and other programs/activities will be implemented under the National Nutrition Mission.
    • Distributing appropriate care kits to pregnant mothers.
    • Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week from “August 1 to August 7”.
    • Providing benefits to beneficiaries under the Home-to-Home (THR) and Hot Fresh Food Scheme.
    • Training of Anganwadi workers for practice.
    • 10% of the 3 objectives of the scheme should be spent on financial expenditure and essential items for the Child Development Department.
    • Implementing the concept of “Ideal Anganwadi”.
